Our AI team’s research has been published in Nature Scientific Data. BAMF Health VP of AI, Stephen Moore; Lead AI Research Engineer, Jeff VanOss; Supervisor of AI Research, Diana McCrumb; and Senior Deep Learning Engineer Gowtham Murugesan are authors of the paper titled “AI-Generated Annotations Dataset for Diverse Cancer Radiology Collections in NCI Image Data Commons.”

The project leverages AI to enhance cancer detection by analyzing thousands of PET, CT and MRI scans from NCI’s Imaging Data Commons (IDC). BAMF Health developed 11 AI algorithms to distinguish cancerous tumors from healthy tissue in lung, liver, prostate, breast, and brain cancers, analyzing over 6,000 scans. The resulting AI-generated annotations are publicly available for researchers in the IDC under the BAMF-AI-Annotations collection.

The published paper is available to read in Nature Scientific Data.
