BAMF Health is creating a global destination for intelligence-based precision medicine through the construction of a comprehensive Theranostics center in downtown Detroit. BAMF’s new facility will be located within Bedrock’s 14-acre Gratiot Site campus, establishing a hub for global leaders in precision medicine, radiopharmaceutical development, radioligand clinical trials, and more.

In partnership with Bedrock, Michigan Innovation Headquarters (MI-HQ), Ferris State University, Wayne State University, and TechTown, the site will serve as a catalyst for cultivating talent, conducting research, and advancing medical technology. Early on, BAMF Health promised to deliver its comprehensive platform to the people of southeast Michigan and to create a bridge for care delivery that would reach statewide.

Learn more about the Gratiot Site development.

“BAMF Health’s second location in Detroit advances our mission to deliver life-saving technology to patients who need it,” said BAMF Health CEO Anthony Chang. “Through strong partnerships with top academic and healthcare institutions, we are making Michigan the national leader in offering advanced treatments and technologies.”

From its global headquarters and flagship facility in Grand Rapids, MI, BAMF proved it could deliver its novel molecular imaging and molecular targeted radiation therapy (radioligand therapy) with better outcomes, fewer side effects, at scale, and at a faster pace than ever before. This new destination is a gateway to providing that same world-leading care to those who reside locally while creating national and global access.

“The auto industry in Detroit changed the way the entire world moves. That innovative mindset is now bringing together mission-aligned partners from around the world to drive toward the advancement of cutting-edge medicine,” Dr. Chang added.

BAMF Health’s facility will reside within the Gratiot Site’s Life Science Innovation Building and occupy 45,000 square feet on the first floor. The site will include a molecular imaging clinic, molecular therapy clinic, and a commercial manufacturing radiopharmacy. The site is currently home to the now-vacant juvenile detention facility. Demolition of that facility has already begun.

The Gratiot Site has an incredibly rich medical, entrepreneurial, and cultural history. Set within the entrepreneurially rich Black Bottom neighborhood, this site was once home to hundreds of Black-owned businesses, including several independent pharmacies and medical offices.

“We are proud to be part of a growing ecosystem that will further propel Detroit and the state of Michigan,” said BAMF Health’s VP of Design, Real Estate, and Partnerships, Laurie Placinski. “We chose this location purposefully for its easy access to the community and its potential to accelerate medical advancements through powerful partnerships both at the Life Science Innovation Building and the broader Gratiot site.”

As an entrepreneurial anchor, BAMF Health will catalyze community uplift, stimulate growth, attract investment, and drive commerce to Michigan. By fostering the development of precision medicine and innovative technologies—including embedded AI, advanced analytics, nuclear medicine technologies, and radiopharmaceuticals—BAMF Health will not only advance the field but also create a fertile environment for new businesses to thrive.

Bedrock anticipates breaking ground in 2025, and BAMF Health hopes to open its doors to patients in late 2027.
